bips – Bitcoin Improvement Proposals

As many of you are aware, the is a very heated debate around the maximum block size (if not, take a look at: Raising the 1MB block size has been discussed and debated for years.) Finally there is a proposal on the table miners can vote on. As you probably know, we are currently mining on Slush’s pool and we are pleased to know they will allow individual miners to vote.

Sure the discussion is going to be very vivid and with good arguments on both sides. But I believe at the end of the day we need to consider the larger picture and accept that adoption will be jeopardized if we are going to start hitting the 1 MB limit.

I recommend taking a minute to read the referenced BIP on GitHub to learn a little bit more about the intricacies of BitCoin and why this particular proposal was pushed through. If you wish to learn more about how Slush is allowing individual miners to vote, you might want to take a look at their facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/MiningBitcoinCz/posts/846144602138294.
